I was chatting with a buddy of mine this week on the subject of forgiveness and how it relates to the world in which we live. The topic came about when I was telling him about a mistake I made in an article and how there was such a lack of forgiving and understanding surrounding said mistake. From that, it hit me just how our culture has degraded with regards to courtesy and kindness.
2012 wasn’t a bad year. In fact, for many it was quite a good one. I had a particularly good year (on many levels); but as a whole, 2012 left a bad taste in the collective mouths of the people over the world. With 2013 a breath away, I say we all look this new year in the face and say “Look year, you damn well better improve on what you offered over the last year or the junk punching will be legen–wait for it–dary!
When I was in high school I had this little “thing” that got me through troubling times. I would imagine that everything around me was nothing more than a television show and all I had to do to rid myself of whatever was going on was flip a switch. It’s no secret that we artistic types are an odd bunch; so it should be no surprise that that strange delusion followed me into adulthood — only it evolved… and became snarky.
