Nothing with B&N seems to add up. They have a good product, a good publishing portal, they just don't seem to care. What does the future hold. I, myself, don't use B&N, nor do I use Smashwords, for my Indie releases. KDP Select offers me much more in the way of promotion, so I'm a fanboy of sorts. Full disclosure: I was a pt employee of BnN, one of first employees tobe trained and sell the nook and have a nook myself. BnN laid me off two years ago during nationwide cutbacks. In my district I was the top seller of nooks for 5 months in a row. There does seem to be a disconnected when it comes to BnN and their customers. Once the ereader was introduced customer service in the stores went down the drain. Staff was conditioned to serve but not sell. So very few knew the process of explaining, selling and servicing electronic devices. I agree with your statement that they have not kept up with the market and the times.
