Darn my dyslexia! I have the hardest time with the word Noble! I actually have to say "nobluh" in my head or it comes out wrong.

Well put, Jack!

Hey, just FYI, your title has a typo for this post. That is, unless you MEANT to spell "Noble" like "Nobel Prize." That would be kinda funny, too.

My biggest curiosity about this is if they are still struggling to get out of the bankruptcy they suffered or if they are just waiting around for a company to buy them, so they don't have to deal with it anymore. Nothing with B&N seems to add up. They have a good product, a good publishing portal, they just don't seem to care.

I wonder the same thing myself, Jack. What does the future hold. I, myself, don't use B&N, nor do I use Smashwords, for my Indie releases. KDP Select offers me much more in the way of promotion, so I'm a fanboy of sorts.

Informative article, as I was always interested in how well B&N's Indie program worked.

Indeed. Full disclosure: I was a pt employee of BnN, one of first employees tobe trained and sell the nook and have a nook myself. BnN laid me off two years ago during nationwide cutbacks. In my district I was the top seller of nooks for 5 months in a row.

There does seem to be a disconnected when it comes to BnN and their customers. Once the ereader was introduced customer service in the stores went down the drain. Staff was conditioned to serve but not sell. So very few knew the process of explaining, selling and servicing electronic devices.

I agree with your statement that they have not kept up with the market and the times. BnN should be catering to selfpublishers. Their support techs are not current either.

Your statements regarding their future ring true. I love my books in any form!
